Cultural trips of my English Language School
For those who still think that it’s just attending classes to learn a language, make sure that every situation during our daily routine might help us get in touch with more vocabulary, grammar, listening and speaking. Having said that, to Learn English Dublin is useful because some words might come up while you’re talking to someone or just walking around and visiting places.
For this reason, on thursdays my teacher Barry takes us to a cultural trip in order to show some museums and galleries in Dublin. I already had the opportunity of visiting the Hugh Lane Gallery, St Michan’s Church and the National Museum of Archaeology and I enjoyed the experience of touching a mummy’s finger, looking at skulls and learning more about Francis Bacon.
Last week, the cultural trip returned after some months of hiatus but I wasn’t able to go to the Irish Museum of Modern Art. Tomorrow’s destination is the Science Gallery at Trinity College at 2pm.
This was a just one suggestion to improve your english apart from having English Classes Dublin.

Passeios culturais da minha escola de inglês
Para quem ainda pensa que inglês só se aprende em sala de aula, saiba que durante o dia-a-dia várias situações podem te ajudar a incrementar o vocabulário, a gramática, o speaking e o listening. Por isso, Aprender Inglês em Dublin é útil porque você pode conhecer novas palavras enquanto você conversa ou apenas andando sem rumo e visitando lugares.
Por este motivo, Barry – meu professor – nos leva todas as quintas para um passeio cultural para mostrar aos alunos alguns museus e galerias em Dublin. Já tive oportunidade de visitar a galeria Hugh Lane, a igreja St Michan’s e o Museu Nacional de Arqueologia e gostei da experiência de tocar em dedo de múmia, ver esqueletos e conhecer mais o trabalho de Francis Bacon.
Na semana passada, o passeio cultural voltou a ser realizado após alguns meses de hiato, mas não pude ir ao Museu Irlandês de Arte Contemporânea. O destino de amanhã é a Science Gallery na Trinity College.
Essa foi apenas uma sugestão para melhorar o seu inglês além de frequentar Aulas de Inglês em Dublin.

Gita a Howth…a volte, grazie ai miei amici dell'English course, scopro posti meravigliosi!
Da qualche giorno a Dublino il tempo è peggio del solito! Pioggia, vento e l’ immancabile freddo! Avevo organizzato una “gita” a Howth, avevo sentito parlare di questo paesino all’ English Language School, ma il tempaccio inizialmente mi aveva scoraggiata 
un po’. Andare o non andare? Alla fine ho deciso di andare, tanto, di certo, non potevo aspettare una giornata soleggiata (avrei potuto anche aspettare invano per mesi da queste parti!). Corro ad O’Connolly Station a prendere il treno, destinazione: HOWTH! Appena arrivata rimango immediatamente incantata da questo paesino sul mare, dal profumo del mare che mi investe appena scesa dal treno, dalla brezza che mi accarezza e mi accompagna fino al porto. Giunta sul porto, con mia grande meraviglia scorgo UNA FOCA!!! E poi ne arriva un’altra e poi un’altra e un’altra…erano in tantissime! Libere! Spettacolo indescrivibile. Con i loro grandi occhioni scrutavano i turisti e tra un’immersione e l’altra mangiucchiavano qualche pesce lanciato in acqua dalla gente sul molo. Sono rimasta lì incantata per interi minuti. Il cielo plumbeo, popolato da decine di gabbiani e il vento, hanno reso la mia passeggiata fra i pescherecci e le barche a vela davvero suggestiva! Nel piccolo paesino di Howth c’è anche un castello, al quale è legata la leggenda della piratessa Grace O’Malley, che nel 1576 volle fare una visita di cortesia alla famiglia Hawth, ma i cancelli non le furono aperti poichè la famiglia stava pranzando. Grace non fu accolta e per vendetta rapì il nipote del baroni, che fu rilasciato solo sotto la promessa di aprire sempre la porta ai visitatori e di aggiungere sempre un posto a tavola durante ogni banchetto. Sembra che l’accordo venga rispettato ancora oggi dai discendenti dei baroni! Grazie ai miei amici dell’ English course scopro e imparo sempre cose nuove e sorprendenti! 
Sabato pomeriggio niente English school e vado al cinema!
Quale migliore occasione di un sabato pomeriggio per andare al cinema, sabato infatti non devo andare all’English Language School! Provo a dare un’occhiata ai film con i sottotitoli…ehm..solo il lunedì sera o il sabato mattina. E ora? Che fare? Tornare a casa? Ma no! Sono qui per imparare l’inglese e poi, insomma, oramai comincio pure a capire che dicono sti Irlandesi, perchè non provarci? Bisogna solo scegliere il film! Uh! L’ultimo film di Peter Mullan (il regista di “Magdalene”), “NEDS”. Mi faccio coraggio e compro il biglietto. Mi “rubano” più di dieci euro per entrare (il coraggio serviva per sborsare tutti sti soldi per vedere un film senza avere la certezza di capirlo!).Cinema enorme. Non capisco dove è collocata la mia sala (ci sono 4 piani!) e soprattutto se devo sedermi in qualche posto preciso o funziona come il cinema del mio paese, “unni pigghia pigghia!” (dovunque). Alla fine riesco nel mio intento, prendo posto, perchè qui, scopro, il posto non è assegnato in precedenza. Ovviamente davanti a me è seduto un tipo altissimo e per tutto il film devo sporgermi un po’ a destra e un po’ a sinistra per vedere qualcosa e alla mia destra una ragazza sgranocchia già patatine…e ancora la luce è accesa! -.-” Spengono la musica e le luci ed ecco il film! John McGill è un ragazzino desideroso di imparare e dedito allo studio, ma è costretto a lottare contro i bulli della scuola e una situazione familiare disastrosa. Il ragazzo è pero’ protetto dal fratello e dalla sua gang di NEDS (Non Educated Delinquentes), finchè anche lui, coinvolto nella spirale di violenza che travolge la sua cittadina, entra a far parte attivamente del gruppo. Il film è ambientato negli anni ’70 a Glasgow, in Scozia. Chiaramente non ho compreso tutto ciò che dicevano i protagonisti, ma sono riuscita a seguire il film e…e a non addormentarmi, come è mia consuetudine fare!

VENERDI! Ultimo giorno (della settimana) dell'English school e progetti per il weekend!
VENERDI! Il giorno più atteso della settimana…inizia il weekend! Progetti? Una miriade, come sempre d’altra parte! Prima di ufficializzare l’inizio del fine settimana però bisogna andare all’ English school, oggi test di verifica (speriamo bene! 
, speriamo che Paul, il mio insegnate, sia clemente!), ma dopo l’ English class, nessuna scusa per rimandare i “cattivi” programmi per il weekend! Questa sera si va al “Cafè en Sein”, in Dawson Street (posto strabello, decorato stile art deco; musica dal vivo; luci soffuse), a festeggiare un compleanno e poi a passeggio per Temple Bar! Cercherò pero’ di andare a nanna presto, perchè domani vorrei non svegliarmi tardi e andare in giro per musei! Qui a Dublino ce ne sono tanti e la maggior parte sono gratuiti (esportare quest’idea in Italia non sarebbe proprio male!). Primo stop al “IMMA” (Irish Museum of Modern Art), ho letto che, in occasione del ventesimo anniversario della fondazione, abbiano organizzato una mega exhibition (“The Moderns”, pare si chiami); seconda fermata, La National Gallery of Ireland, dove sono conservati quadri di Picasso, Monet, Henry, Van Gogh, Goya, ma soprattutto c’è lo splendido “La cattura di Cristo” di Caravaggio! Non vedo l’ora di inziare il mio tour culturale! Nel mio “calendario” irlandese tutti i musei sono in elenco…parties e birra permettendo! :p
P.S.: avevo dimenticato di pubblicare il post prima di andare all’ English Language school…sempre la solita imbranata!
After English school, I had to say "goodbye" to Ale e Fabio!
I’m very sad, because, tonight, Ale, my bestfriend and her boyfriend, Fabio, returned to Italy 
They were here three day (just three days!). After my English course , I had to say goodbye to my friends… We spent togheter wonderful days! The first day, I went to pick them up at the airport and in the afternoon, we walked around the city (I didn’t go to English Language School! ) ; in the 
evening, we went to Temple Bar for a beer! The second day, we visited ”Trinity College” and the “Old Library”, the ”Dublin Castle” and “Christ Church Cathedral”, they were very fascinated by the old city! But, I’m in Dublin to learn English and then, in the afternoon, I went to school, while they visited the “Guinness storehouse” (If you come in Dublin, you must visit it!). In the evening, I and my flatmates organized a party, in our house, for my friends! (music, a lot of photo and especially a lot of fun! ). Today we went to visit “Kilmainham gaol”, a prison-museum, where many leader of Irish rebellions were imprisoned and some executed by the British. Very interesting! Their vacation was short and the last day arrived soon … :’( then… “Bye Bye Ale&Fabio, see you soon in Italy!”
Watching concerts during my English Course Dublin
Heya! Here I am again to share some experiences during my English Course Dublin.
This time I want to avoid describing my routine as a student and reveal one of my favourite hobbies: going to gigs. My closest friends know how obsessed for music I am and I used to attend at least one festival per year in Brazil. Here in Ireland I already had the chance to watch a lot of great acts performing in small or medium-sized venues.
When I was in Brazil, I had the help of my magical credit card to buy the tickets with the “box office collection” option, which was pretty convenient for cases like mine. The very first gig I saw here was from the US band Of Montreal at The Academy four days after my arrival. Also, I had the opportunity to see Marina and the Diamonds, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem and others performing live.
The main differences between gigs here and in Brazil is that I can easily stay on the front row with no hassle and it’s not usual to get squeezed by the audience, which makes the experience much more comfortable. On the other hand, in Dublin I don’t have my close friends by my side and gig-goers are less warm.
Even though it’s nice to have so many options, it’s frustrating to see gig listings and realize that I can’t afford all the events I want to attend. I suppose that saving money for a big festival like Oxegen or even for the medium-sized Electric Picnic is more practical and less expensive than single concerts.

Shows já vistos durante meu Curso de Inglês em Dublin
Opa, tudo bem? Aqui estou novamente para compartilhar minhas experiências enquanto faço meu Curso de Inglês em Dublin.
Desta vez, quero deixar de lado minhas opiniões como estudante e revelar um dos meus hobbies favoritos: ir à shows. Meus amigos mais próximos sabem quão obcecado eu sou por eventos musicais e costumava ir pelo menos uma vez por ano em algum festival em São Paulo. Aqui na Irlanda, já tive a chance de ver ótimas apresentações em casas de show de médio ou pequeno porte.
Quando estava no Brasil, tive a ajuda do meu cartão de crédito salvador para comprar os ingressos com a opção de retirá-los na bilheteria, o que foi bem conveniente tendo em vista que eu estava do outro lado do Oceano Atlântico. O primeiro show a que assisti aqui foi dos norte-americanos do Of Montreal no The Academy quatro dias após chegar em solos irlandeses. Além desta banda, também já tive a oportunidade de ver Marina and the Diamonds, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem e outros se apresentando.
A principal diferença entre os shows aqui e no Brasil é que posso chegar perto da grade sem grandes problemas e também não é comum ser espremido pelo público. Por outro lado, em Dublin não tenho meus amigos por perto e a recepção dos frequentadores à banda é mais fria.
Mesmo sendo ótimo ter tantas opções, é frustrante ver a agenda de shows e perceber que é inviável pagar para ir a todas as apresentações que quero. Imagino que valha mais a pena evitar gastar em shows avulsos e investir em um grande festival como o Oxegen ou até mesmo um evento de médio porte como o Electric Picnic.

Classmates at my English School Dublin
Howdy! Today I’m going to write about a question I am frequently asked: classmates. This is another important aspect when we decide to Learn English Dublin as we are always afraid of sutdying with almost 100% of brazilians at the same class.
Since I started my classes, the maximum of students in my class was 9 and the minimum was 3. I already had classmates from Germany, South Korea, Netherlands, France, Thailand, Russia, Somalia. At the moment, I have classes with people from Spain, Serbia, Colombia, Malaysia and Mexico. It’s what I was looking for as I can learn about different cultures while I learn the language.
Last year, when the class had more students, we always tried to organize meetings and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately, 2011 has arrived and many of them either returned to their own countries or finished the course.
Now you might be thinking: “C’mon, I know that there are at least one more brazilian studying with you”. And I answer: Yep, there is. Actually, I had four classmates from my country at the same time and it never spoiled the class as everyone had a good level of english and was dedicated.
This was another brief story about my routine during my English Course Dublin.
